A piece written by Simon Austin (Training Ground Guru) showed the evolvement of high intensity sprints within the top 5 European leagues (see below). It shows the Premier League topping the table with the demands on the players significantly greater for the average number of high intensity sprints but also the average peak sprint velocity. Showing how important is to work on both repeated sprint ability and peak sprint velocity but ensuring this in done in a controlled and safe environment to avoid injury.
