Decision-Making Practice: 360 Awareness

UEFA Pro Licence Coach and Charlton Athletic manager Ben Garner shares this activation awareness practice.

There is no real physical load with this practice so can be used as part of a warm-up or within your session.

“I use this a lot with under-16 and under-18 players,” says Ben.

“It’s just developing that awareness and scanning, building in some decision-making into that with 360 awareness, knowing where players are.

“Feel free to play around with it and adapt it to suit your players and your required outcomes. Perhaps make it two touches or one touch. You could even make it opposed.”

Ben adds: “It’s a framework for coaches to look at, pick up some ideas and make it work in their own way.”
